“Force-feeding duck style is my favorite Chinese phrase. Its meaning in English is cram-studying, so when a person spends an all-nighter studying for an exam, they are force-feeding their duck. I graduated from Oberlin with a degree in neuroscience, and beginning in June 2011, I started a two-year fellowship to teach English in rural China. I believe that every day I am force-feeding my duck. And you know what? My duck is pretty happy.”
