Yes, the conservatory will be open during the summer for a handful of masters courses and summer music institutes, but probably not operating with normal semester hours. Wish I could find the summer info I did last year, but I can’t track it down right now! If you contact the con deans office (condeans[AT]oberlin.edu) I’m sure they can tell you more.

Can conservatory students take a first year seminar? I figure I have to get college credits anyway, and everyone loves the seminars, so I might as well.
Professor Bob Geitz, who is the head of First Year Seminar program, says that conservatory students are welcome to take a first year seminar if their busy schedules allow for it. He also recommends getting in touch with the deans’ office to ask if first year seminar courses count as liberal arts credits (condeans[AT]oberlin.edu).
