The best option for you is to visit one of the local banks with ten or twenty dollars and ask them for change. It’s quicker than saving all your quarters all semester (though you could also do that, but don’t let it define your laundry-doing throughout college).

Every dormitory (including the co-ops) have washing machines and dryers. Most are still coin-operated (there are a handful of Obie Dollars operated machines on campus; I know Kahn Hall is one of the dorms that have this option), so a good idea would be to get $20 in quarters at the beginning of the semester to assure that you don’t have to scrounge for quarters every time you need to do laundry.
Or you can take a cue from a former hallmate of mine who got several rolls of quarters at the beginning of the semester and if she was around, you could trade her loose change or bills for quarters. Most popular person on our hall, she was.
