Oberlin - An Ohio Best Hometown

oberlinmainstreetandchamber:

Link to an Ohio News Network/Ohio Magazine video of the things that make Oberlin so special. Impossible to condense all the wonderful things about our town in 2 minutes & 30 seconds, but this is a start.

Featuring Swerve, the Ginko Gallery, Tappan Square, Ben Franklin, and the AMAM!

Today in Oberlin history:
On this day in 1858, residents of Oberlin and Wellington banded together to rescue John Price from the grasp of the Fugitive Slave Law and a U.S. marshal. Pictured are the rescuers.

Oberlin-Wellington Rescue! This actually played a pretty large role in the start of the civil war.

Correct! So much so that there was a book written about our role in history (The Town That Started the Civil War).
